If you believe what you think can have physical effects on your body well then you’re right, and here’s why…

As described in an article published in the 1992 Journal of Neurophysiology, 8 subjects were divided into three groups: “The first group was asked to exercise by contracting and relaxing one finger on their left hand, for five one-hour training sessions per week for four weeks. A second group mentally rehearsed the same exercises, on the same timetable, without physically activating any muscles in the finger. People in a control group exercised neither their fingers nor their minds.

 

At the end of the study, the scientists compared the findings. The first set of participants had their finger strength tested against the control group. A no-brainer, right? The group who did the actual exercises exhibited 30 percent greater finger strength than those in the control group. We all know that if we repeatedly put a load on a muscle, we will increase the strength of that muscle. What we probably wouldn’t anticipate is that the group who mentally rehearsed the exercises demonstrated a 22 percent increase in muscle strength! The mind, then, produced a quantifiable physical effect on the body. What is the R.A.S. and what it has to do with I-Am-It-Affirmations:

“If you want to program your brain for business success, you need to understand the brain’s reticular activation system (RAS). It’s part of the brain entrainment process. Think of how Google’s search engines search the Internet for whatever you ask it to. You enter a subject, a name, a topic and wham in seconds you have hundreds if not thousands of options to choose from on the topic you entered.


Well, that’s pretty impressive right? I don’t think so.

Your reticular activation system is a network-like group of non-conscious brain cells that that can pick up the information you want and need at speeds that are 800 times faster that what you can consciously see or hear. These non-conscious impulses travel at over 100,000 mph. That is mind-boggling!


You know that scene in West side story where tony and maria meet for the first time? Suddenly every other person in the room goes blurry, and from clear across the crowded dance floor they both become acutely aware of each other. It is as if nobody else in the room exist. That’s a vivid example of the Reticular Activating System at work. Its a large group of nerves at the base of your skull that all sensory data run through. And it takes a small amount (2000 bits of over 400,000,000 bit of info) to bring to your conscious awareness. It literally is what we “see,hear,feel” with, It controls what we see in our reality.” (So by daily reconditioning you can train your RAS to pick out what’s relevant to your affirmations..)
